The next edition to the grand old rivalry. I think the series is all tied up.

I had to dig up my post from last years game lol in good fun.

Bob always told us that this game was Portsmouth's Superbowl. And for the most part they had some awful good cheerleaders in football uniforms the years that I played. Portsmouth players would scream and yell and jump up and down like they were going to really do something before the game started and then the same old thing happened every year. We never would underestimate them because they have had some good teams in the past and great athletes even the years I played and we knew this was their season .We would get into the locker room at the half up by a lot of points Bob would walk in behind us and say "Portsmouth" laugh and walk into the coaches office.

Odds are Curt Clifford is going to be the coach known as the coach that lost the all time series lead.

Maybe this game will be the game that fires the Tigers up to get after it. I was not impressed last night even with a win.

I am looking for a closer game that it looks like it will be on paper. Portsmouth has nothing to lose and they will be passing the ball left and right because we have showed we have trouble with Spread teams. I am sure we will line up our studs in the backfield and pound away like we did Friday night and come out on top.

Two legendary coaches meet once again. Curt may lose the series lead but that can be contributed to Ironton having more talent year in and year out.

It is going to be exciting to see Ironton to take the lead in the overall series.

This is the oldest rivalry in southern Ohio and the 5th oldest in the entire state started in 1902.
    Love them TIGERS

There is no better feeling than beating Portsmouth. It would be nice for them to win one once in awhile to keep the interest up in the game. Now the Portsmouth game feels like another win for Ironton without the anticipation of the game.

Anyone who really knows coach knows he wouldn't say that. Read the articles that are in the paper. He is always complimentary to all the teams he plays. In fact there are a few who says he is too complimentary. If you look hard enough you will find posts to that effect on this site.

Coach is very respectful of every opponent Ironton faces. Sure he going to say to his team to get them fired up you are better than the other team now get out there and prove it. What coach does not try to pump there kids up?

I think Portsmouth will come out with guns blazing. We are weak at DB not for the skill just the lack of speed plus we play off the WRs 10 yards! Ironton will have to step up in the secondary to pull this one out I think. Portsmouth has nothing to lose really but to pull off the upset.......can't let that happen! GO TIGERS!

Let me say one thing about Coach Clifford. I don't go to all the Portsmouth games like most of you do so I can't grade his coaching skill level nor would I want too. I can say what I have seen out of this man off the field and I can say that he is one class person. Watch Friday night when Ironton and Portsmouth are on the field and he and Caoch Lutz will meet at midfield and talk about, what ever coaches who meet at midfield before a game talk about. Sure one wants to win as bad as the other but they are both man enough to ask about their families. You don't see many coaches do this. Should be a dandy game.

You see the respect of the game going by the way side more and more each year. I like to see the old coaches show the way it should be done.

There comes a time in every coach's career they should step down, Bob's time will come also. Curt's time is now and it has nothing to do with class or how well he is liked.I like Curt very much, he is a great guy but his ability to get the most out of his players which includes more than just X's and O's has passed him by. It is nothing personal on my part.

Love Clifford but it is time for him to be put out to stud.

I figure Mason will start this game at quarterback all I can say to him is hang on to the ball and let it fly to the Trojan receivers.

It is time for Curt to go. Ironton takes the lead in the series and hopefully CLifford hangs it up. It would help out the program tremendously and they could get back on track in the next few years.

My wish is the Trojans beat Ironton and Curt Clifford rides off into the sunset, he deserves to go out a winner.

If Portsmouth has a decent quarterback spread the field like Ashland did to them. Sam Hunter picked them apart once he adjusted to what they were doing. Ironton has a soft underbelly when it comes defending the pass. Also hit their running backs hard they will cough up the ball.

Portsmouth will be game for the first half then Ironton will seize control.
